The Challenge: Launch your rocket as far as possible! Find the angle that gives you maximum range.
Setup
- Mark a clear launch line
- Open field with at least 150 feet of clear space
- Bring flags or stakes to mark landing spots
- Long measuring tape (or pace off distances)
- All players use the same pressure setting
How to Play
- Each player gets 3 launches
- Choose your angle for each launch
- Mark where your rocket first lands (not where it rolls)
- Measure distance from launch line to landing spot
- Your best distance counts!
- Farthest launch wins!
Physics Theory: In a vacuum, 45° gives maximum range. But with air resistance and rocket shape, the optimal angle is often 35-40°. Experiment to find your rocket's sweet spot!

Game Variants
- Angle Lock: Everyone must use 45° - pure technique competition
- Experiment Mode: Record distance at 30°, 40°, 45°, 50° - graph results!
- Team Total: Add all team members' best distances
- Into the Wind: Bonus round launching against the wind
Pro Tip: Watch your first launch carefully! If it seems to arc too high and fall short, try a lower angle. If it stays low and hits the ground early, try higher. Adjust based on what you observe!
