Our position

Prosumer headsets - Quest 3, Apple Vision Pro, Pico 4, HTC Focus - are great hardware for individual power users. Deploying them 1:1 in a classroom without the enterprise management platform is operationally painful and compliance-risky.

If the enterprise option (Meta Horizon Managed Services, Apple School Manager, etc.) does not exist for the headset you want, or is too expensive, the right move is to stay on AR-on-tablet instead. Merge Cube + Merge EDU solves 80% of K-8 immersive-media use cases at 10% of the cost and zero of the account-management headache.

Reputable sources worth reading before you decide. Labels reflect our honest read of each source's general stance, not direct quotes.

Meta's own enterprise program exists precisely because consumer setups do not work at classroom scale. Use it if you are deploying Quest.

Why trust it: Platform-provider acknowledgment of the problem.

Apple's education device management platform is the required path for large Apple deployments. Same principle applies to Vision Pro when Apple expands education support.

Why trust it: Platform-provider enterprise infrastructure.

Some individual teachers run 2-3 prosumer headsets very successfully with manual account management. Works at that scale. Falls apart at 10+ headsets.

Why trust it: Real small-pilot experience.
