About This Program
Students design and build their own rockets from simple materials, then watch them soar using our compressed air launcher. This hands-on workshop teaches real physics and engineering concepts through the excitement of launch day.
We bring everything needed - the launcher, materials, and safety equipment. All you need is an outdoor space like a playground, field, or parking lot. Each student builds their own rocket to customize and take home.
What Students Learn
- Aerodynamics - how fins and nose cones affect flight
- Pressure and force - how compressed air creates thrust
- Engineering design - iterating to improve performance
- Scientific method - predicting, testing, observing
- Teamwork and friendly competition
Session Format
Duration is flexible based on your schedule and group size. A typical session includes:
- Quick intro to rocket science (5-10 min)
- Rocket building and customization (15-45 min)
- Launch time! Each student launches their rocket (15-60 min)
- Optional: distance/accuracy competition
