About This Program
Take the classic paper airplane to the next level! Students learn to fold high-performance paper planes, then attach small electric motors and propellers to make them fly under their own power.
This workshop combines origami-style folding techniques with basic electronics, teaching kids how thrust and lift work together to achieve flight. Perfect for indoor spaces like gyms or large classrooms.
What Students Learn
- Aerodynamics - how wing shape affects lift and stability
- Thrust and propulsion - how propellers create forward motion
- Paper folding techniques for optimal flight
- Basic motor and battery connections
- Iterative design - test, adjust, improve
Session Format
A typical session includes:
- Intro to flight principles (10 min)
- Paper plane folding - multiple designs (20 min)
- Motor attachment and balancing (30 min)
- Test flights and adjustments (30 min)
